Re:Martin Luther II 1 Year, 2 Months ago
ericmugisha07, I must state that I have nothing personal with / against you. As you read the remainder of this post, please keep that in mind.

You are making an allegation that you face discrimination while interacting with members here at Connect Uganda. You claim the pinnacle of this plan to exclude you was Sunday 14th October 2007 during the Family Sunday Show where you say I, as the presenter the program, did not read your name while reading names of people in the chatroom that day. I am taking sefrex's post as the basis of the summary of your allegation since you have endorsed it as a true account.

ericmugisha07, you are a gallant member of this community which collectively makes up Connect Uganda. You are respected and valued just like every other members here. But you are not special.

From your posts on this subject, you seem to want to be taken in a special category. This can not happen and will not happen simply because none of us is special here. We like to think we are all the same.

I think such statements simply show your burning desire for that bit more attention. They will however not get you any sympathy or preferential treatment here.

Back to the Family Sunday Show, I could have made an omission and maybe not read your name while reading chatroom members. If at all this happened, it was not consciously done. And you should not take it personally. It has happened to a lot of people here before. None of them has however ever raised the dust you have. This does not mean the people it has happened to before do not care. It simply means they understand we are doing a live show where anything can happen.

On the other hand, you may be suffering discrimination while here. If you think this is true, you could be the one discriminating against yourself. You seem to have expected to be discriminated against while here. And seeing that the good people here have not done it, you've taken it in your hands to create a scenario that fits your initial expectations.

Bear in mind that this is a two way traffic. We at Connect Uganda need to be protected against claims such as yours.

One more thing - please stop thinking for the rest of us. As we may not know what's on your mind, you possibly cannot know what is on ours.

I hope we can all be the happy family that we aspire to be.

ericmugisha07, above is a copy of our disclaimer that also appears at the bottom of this forum. I suggest you read it one more time.

I will say this for the record. Connect Uganda is an institution that values unity amongst Ugandans. You just have to listen to what we do to understand. We pride ourselves for this and we think we are on the right path.

We as the institution of Connect Uganda have not in any way discriminated against you. It is against everything we are here for to discriminate against members. To us, as I said before, you are a respected and valued member of this community. You are not special though as all members are seen in the same light.

We provide a forum and as the disclaimer says,

I believe I have addressed your concern in the light of Connect Uganda and your allegations. If you have issues with individual forum members, then you can raise an official complaint about those members and we as the administrators of Connect Uganda owe it to you to address it and come to the bottom of things.

If on the other hand you think Connect Uganda as an institution has been discriminatory to you, then you need stable ground for your claims. An omission of your name as you stated is not basis for a serious allegation as this. We can unfortunately not deal with your own imaginations.

Just to recap, the Institution of Connect Uganda, given our explanations above and in other posts on this topic, have not expressed any form of discrimination against you. My not reading your name during a live show is not and cannot be seen as discrimination because it has happened to lots of other people in a random manner for one but yet again it is a live show and lots of constraints can cause such an omission to happen.

Most importantly, this omission was not systematic. If it happened, it was on one show and on only one occasion.

I hope this is the end of you making allegations against Connect Uganda as an institution. As a hint, read the disclaimer and understand that Connect Uganda and individual posters are two different things. Thank you for your time.

Ok, it's official now, Mugisha you discriminate yourself here. God help the different people who venture to a place where the majority is like you. Because you've got a discriminative nature. Remember you are not the only one here who isn't 100% a Muganda. My opinion is that if you feel that you don't fit, and aren't appreciated, it would be healthier for you to leave. I'll miss you though, you've got that Zizinga character, coupled with a tact that's got all the ladies attention. It's this diversity that brings up interesting interactions. I feel that people here understand that. You should learn to love yourself the way you are, whatever your background. I thought that's what you were doing when you chose a username close to your home. I did it by offering info about my background. So I'm living proof that your allegations are misplaced. For example; If you tell someone, you are fooling me, you know what to expect. But if you keep flirting with misunderstandings the way you do, you'll marry them, bear fruit with them, plus all the consequences thereof. It's a state of mind. If you can do it here, you'll do it anywhere. So if you decide to go, please go in peace. Enough interruption of the others who have use for this corner, let them continue having their souls nourished.
