Well, if our host societies were to know that we call coming to them "striking or hitting the broom" couldn't they take it for violent intentions? Isn't that terrorising? I'm I going too far?

What word can replace this "KYEEYO" word without changing the meaning and is less degrading?

Mike tried it once when Mulaasi was on his live show...those were many words....any suggestions plz?

We've got some suggestions up here. Naye waliwo nabakiyita "Ekipakasi", "Akabaasa", "Voluntary slavery'... need more?

But there is a good side to this name "Kyeeyo". It marks our history. Calling things by their name can be very helpful in understanding them. Because our hospitals need doctors and our doctors are out cleaning streets. Our nurses are tending to a single elderly in Europe or America, while big groups in hospitals are in need of him. Our Economists are cleaning buildings and the Lawyers picking fruits! Think about keeping the name until we solve the problem.

Meli (REAL CONNECTOR),

that is the kind of attitude i have. But, when a word raises concern to a vast community we then consider eliminating it...or coming up with some word that meets the satification of the "members" in the caterogy questionable.

The "N" word became a big deal in the black communities in the USA until some communities have practically held burial functions for it..example TEXAS did just a few weeks ago..

I hope we can get a better version for our "KYEEYO" vocabulary before we get over board.
