On thursday the 14th June 2007, the minister of finance and economic Planning unveilled the national budget for FY(2007/2008) and the theme is:"Prosperity for all"



But the increase of fuel tax(Diesel and petrol) in Uganda will mean that the prices for the basics will increase and hence the cost of living especially the rural poor. As almost every thing relies on Transport sector!! Please Fellow Ugandans where are we heading??

We need to find new ways of survival...

The wanaichi have limited choices especially in areas where decision making is monopolized. We need to find a solutions for example getting services to communities than having to travel to one center for all this.

We might have to promote the bus sysytem to be reinforced again..might be less expense

Hello Angibee,thanks for your view:- well the bus system would be fine, But Imagine the local bussiness men who run retail shops up country(Rural areas) Where 80% of the population live below the poverty line. These people really what they want are the basics like Sugar, Salt, Kerosin and the anti malarial?? How will the local retail shop proprietor provide the above mentioned basics to the rural poor with the high transport costs(Brought about by increased fuel prices?)

The people in the Diaspora are the only hope for our people.

We first of all have to initiate enough servicesmin the local areas people live.All the western strutures have emphasized the fact the communities of people keep within those limits.Forget the places like Newyork in USA..but every other place is just the same. The problem the wealthy want to tap from each other and that just inflates the fees around evrything else.

Tjink about the train services here for example, the transport most of the agriculture products so that they are evenly distributed across the continent..what would it be like if all it took is running across the country.

I have faith that if the Diaspora stops focusing on self centeredness on a bigger picture, we shall beat the sysytem easily.

Enock-2206, I wish you told us more about this prosperity for all program. Evidently, it's long overdue, but if carried out fast and in all good faith, it could turn the wheel of events regarding the current talk about breaking the country up.
