I can only be proud of my country in an arrogant way. The pictures they show on television out here, don't earn us a very enviable position in the international community. I know I can't fool anyone.

Infact today my friend and i had a discussion about the same topic even before i came here to check on what is new. He said that his country has contributed nothing to his progress,so we both had a heard time describing how proud we are because we are full of disappointments from our leaders. But at the end of the day you just have to think about yourself and the family the rest who cares.

Yesterday I watched a documentary of a man who was sixteen years old when the second world war broke out. First, he lost his family, and later was drafted to the army. There he lost his sight in one eye, but gained it back later. He talked with sadness about all he'd gone through, especially of losing his family, of which he's very proud. Because and for them, he liked the person he'd grown into. He lived each day like it was the last, never took his friends and loved ones for granted. Enjoyed nature.



In the same way, we too can be proud of the things we were, the things we aspire for, and the things we know deep down, that we can be. Because that's who we really are.
