I am so happy to hear from you Chamu... If this program succeeds, it is not there to help those who are qualified already. It is there for those who are qualified to help our young children get an interest in engineering. The whole idea of this program if it succeeds, is to set the future of Ugandan engineering. It is by no means, to be considered the main source of Jobs for Uganda's engineers. If it is given a try, it could end up boosting the way Ugandans interact with Engineering...

It was great to see your view Chamu, and hope I answered any questions you had. I am hoping to hear from everyone again, be it that you have a question, or an advice.

Awangaale Sabasajja...

mugisha looks like u have a point.but still we as parents our job

is to guide these children in to the right path.but wen these children grow up they tend to make their own decisions as matures

we can try to encourage them but still a child has to choose wat he

or she feels he can do better in future whether its sports engineering music to mention but a few

i cant encourage a kid to be an engineer wen he or she is bad at maths

well what i think as a parent is to encourage these kids to do wat we

think is best for them but still leave the ball in their hands for

them to decide really wat they can do best bse its the kids going to

s

school not us and they know what they can do and wat they cant do

I am happy to hear from you Asha, and I indeed like your ideas... But talking about not forcing our children, You are absolutely right and I agree... But we have to remember that no one is born a genius. And if you tell the children and they refuse, Don't force them afterall early scientists say that "the only difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits" Well, we can have them become inventors... What point am I trying to put across? The point is There is no need to force them... but we need to encourage and smartly push them... All we need to do for our country is pave the way... in other words, aloow the kids to think outside the BOX... I am glad that you were able to reflect on the issue. And I am hoping to hear from you again Thanks

But children need a little pushing. Not forcing, not shoving, but encouragement, and pushing. That's what everyone out here is doing. My late dearest mama, who was a teacher, used to say that your children are essentially what you make them. One famous European musician said that his mother took him to guitar classes when he was four years old, and told him to learn to play it very well. When he asked, "But why mama?" She answered, "Because you love it."
