Prince Job Paulo Kafeero - RIP, and thank you for the music!
Written by Mike Mulambuzi
Thursday, 17 May 2007
Prince Job Paulo Kafeero (pictured) passed away in May 2007. He was 38.
Comrades, another legend has passed on! Prince Job Paulo Kafeero, 38, undoubtedly one of the best musicians in his genre our country has ever seen, is now forever immortalized in his song 'Walumbe Zaaya.? May the Lord rest his soul in peace.
Kafeero?s death probably marks the end of 'kadongo kamu' as we grew to know it. He was the voice and sound that shunned modernity for originality.
My main memories of the 'Golden Boy of Africa' are on the 'Family Sunday Show' here at Connect. I can't recall presenting a show that ever ended without a caller requesting a track from Paulo Kafeero; Walumbe Zaaya, Omwana w'Omuzungu, Dippo Nazzigala, Bulandina - the list is long! It's a pity I never got to interview the man like I always thought I would. Paulo, on behalf of the many, thank you for the music!
Following content added: 01-June-2007.
On behalf of the many who loved Prince Job Paulo Kafeero, I would like to thank you all for the time you took off to sign the condolence book. Most importantly, I would like to thank you for the love and support you showed our irreplaceable music icon. I think this is testimony that wherever we may be in this world, we are connected and still have our vibrant community feeling intact.
On 19th May 2007, Connect Uganda aired a radio programme in memory of Prince Job Paulo Kafeero, the ?Golden Boy of Africa.? This programme is now available in audio format. Click the player below to listen.
The comment section is now closed. May the Lord rest Prince Job Paulo Kafeero's soul in peace.

May 18, 2007
Uganda have lost a very young Paul Kafeero. At 38 he was too young to die. In his short life he has touched a lot of lives young and old. He should be a very good example in our own lives to be proud of who we are and mostly of all being proud of our cultures. Kafeero was great in that and I hope more will follow in his footsteps. Kadongo kamu should continue and thanks to Paulo Kafeero. Omukama amuwe ekiwumulo ekyemirembe.

To bad the Nigga has passed on to the majority! I think he has gone a happy man who enjoyed every day as his last! He will be remebered for the sounds he has let in the air waves.
What shall we be remembered for? can we ever have an opportunity to have the same said about us? can we be big in death and in Life?
He leaves us with that question to be answered.
We shall miss him and his natural test!
God rest his soul in Peace!

The best kandokamu musician written by Tina,
May 18, 2007
I am not a kandokamu fun but believe me I loved Prince's songs, they were too long but had Luganda words I would have not known if I had not heard them from his songs. I particularly I like Dippo Nazzigala, Bulandina and Walumbe Zaaya. Those songs have educative messages about Ugandans' life styles. I will miss his compositions, am waiting for his upcoming album that he was working on. His death reminds me not to forget that life is short and I must forget enjoying my life. Rest in peace Paul Kafeero.

I can\'t think of Paul\'s song that I never enjoyed or failed to learn something from. I have always had to reflect on the lessons he tried to bring to forward, although at times in thick Luganda poetic and idiomatic way. All we can do now is to commend him to the mercy of God his and our Creator; for the eternal repose of his soul. We shall all miss him but in hope, we remain with him and his relatives in prayer.

I jus dont believe hes gone, oh my God he was so young wot a loss to the ugandan music industry.Job we ve been blessed to listen to your soothing voice, we will mis your truthfulness, your humour and your down to earthiness. There arent that many musicians who behaved the way he did. I dont believe in re-incarnation but if only it existed my only wish was for Paul's voice to be reincarnated. Prince RIP
