Rescue efforts are underway by both Police and site workers to remove people buried under a site in Nakasero near Mosque that collapsed a few hours ago.
Reports from there indicate that the side of the dug up pit for foundation construction gave way covering several workers on the site.
The reporter has talked to one Byaruhanga Godfrey a porter at the site who survived being buried by the soil and this is what he says…
Police Spokesperson Judith Nabakoba says Police investigations will follow the rescue mission of those buried under the soil.
Two bodies have so far been recovered and one person identified as Sunday Omusungu has been rescued and rushed to hospital with severe injuries. One of the dead has been identified Arinaitwe Martin
Three excavators have been deployed to help in the search efforts for the other unspecified workers who are still trapped under the soil. One body recovered so far.
Police Inspector General Maj. Gen. Kale Kaihura and Kampala Central MP Erias Lukwago have also visited the scene.
Lukwago blames the increasing tragedies in Kampala on government negligence.
